Maybe this can be the 'share your tricks' thread? I'm going to post some stuff for BC about how to use certain features, and if anyone else wants to teach or learn I'm with that. I use version 7.

Line Tool TutorialI'll try to keep it simple. To find the line tool you click the button under the text [T] one. You might need to right click it to select the 'Line Tool'. 1. In the menu up the top, under where File etc is, you'll see a diagonal line in the corner. Next to that there's three boxes - one is a square with squares in each corner, one is like that but with a 'pen' in the middle and the last is just the square. 2. Click the one that's just a square. 3. Make sure the \ icon in the next 'section' is selected. 4. Choose how thick you want the line to be. You highlight the number next to px in the 'Weight' box. 5. You can change the thickness later, you just have to either go over the line you already did with a thicker one or use the undo/step back tool to erase the one you don't want. 6. You can change the opacity or mode but that's not too important. Drawing the line: [tricky part] 7. When you move the cursor over the image that you want to draw on it should have the t crosshair shape thing. That's what you want. 8. To draw a line all you have to do is click and drag it to be as long as you want. Then 'let go' and there's your line. 9. For it to stay straight just hold down 'shift' on your keyboard while you drag the mouse. 10. It's a bit tricky sometimes if you're trying to make a border around something, getting it in line exactly. I just do trial and error. Hope that's clear enough! Tell me if you need more help.

Oooh cool! That tut looks good mid - I'll try it out when I'm feeling a little less tired. Scram, if you have the time to post some stuff that would be really helpful. The only stuff I know about Photoshop is the stuff I taught myself... and to people like you my banners must look pretty crap!

BC - your banners look great! some people just get it, and your banners and avs and stuff look cool!!! the annoying thing about photoshop is they give you about 8 different ways to do one task, but if you have an idea of what it is you want to do, then just ahoy! i just finished a 3-day workshop on the wonderful world of using masks in photoshop (much excitement) ps. is there a list of smilies on the site, cos the only ones i know how to use are and . it might give you guys the wrong impression that i am some kind of excited exuberant loving dance machine

Hee! The smilies are in the technical forum. I know the word 'masks' but I always forget to use them. They probably would help a lot.

Bwahaha Scram! Thanks for saying my banners are good. I found them really easy, so either a] I'm a fast-learning PS whiz kid, or b] It is actually incredibly simple. I'm leaning toward the latter because I've never been great at anything in my life. I use masks sometimes, but a lot of the time I forget too.

fair enough i never used them and wondered why i hated photoshop so much, until i realised it was making my work about 200 times longer to do i'll post some stuff when i d/l my stuff from my school hd: but be warned, it is mainly boring corporate assignments interspersed with muck-around stuff that seems to be based mainly on robots
