I added a whole heap of avatars last night, and they're okay, but if anyone else wants to add any just upload them and ask one of us lovely admins to add them for you. Admins - you're more than welcome to add some too...

I'm going to look at them Unfortunately I'm not very into av making [and I'm not that good at it], but I like looking at everyone else's.

But mid, you're so good at photoshop stuff! I wish I was better than I am at it. I choose good pictures [at least I think I do] but then I don't really know what to do with them so I just play around until they look semi-ok.

I'm not good at avatars though. I don't remember any of the 'cool' things to do. I like your ones BC. I would use them but I like making my own so they're exactly how I want them and I don't have to get someone to change them for me.

Mid - you're so funny. I love how 'set in your ways' you are. I have a bit of an avatar addiction I think. I love changing mine and probably change them a little too often, but I can't help it. I want to learn how to get some of the cool effects for my avs though. I want them to look better dammit!

Yes I am very set in my ways. Once I choose one I don't like to change it. It's my identity! [But then sometimes I see a picture and think "wow I really need that to be my av" ] Look up a tutorial or something? I used to know how to make them into cool shapes and have the background transparent, but now when I do it it doesn't work.

That you are. Awww you don't need a widdle picture to be your identity - everyone knows who you are. Yeah, I'm thinking of doing that. There's some on lj but they're either really complicated or don't work with the pics I want to use. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough though...

Oooh you should post tutorial links on the arty board. I always find that I can't get things to work with pictures that I want to use. You should post links to the avs here so that I know which ones they are.

They are very shadow-y! I like them though. Do you know how to use the screen/lighten tool? It would make those lighter but it might make them blurry like the strapless red satin picture.

I wanted them shadow-y. I like that effect. I used the screen tool on them and changed the brightness/contrast too. Then I added a dark blue layer and set it to 'exclusion' and then duplicated the base, desaturated it, and set it to 'soft light'. Then I added a light brown layer and set it to 'multiply' and a light blue layer and set it to 'colour burn'. That's what gives them that dark/shadow-y look. If I just screened them they'd look all weird and grainy...

It doesn't look like you did that much work! [That was meant to be a compliment. ] I like the HDTV screen cap effect.

It actually wasn't that much work. It just sounds like more when it's typed out like that. It's just a few layers really. Have you found any HDTV screen caps yet mid?

Yeah I guess every two clicks sounds like 5 minutes' work when you type it out. No, no good caps. I really wish I could make my own, but I don't have HDTV or the tools. They should have captures that are promo quality.
