Press release: REUNION (Thursday, 9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT): Part character drama and part mystery, REUNION marks a groundbreaking concept in series television as it chronicles the lives of a group of six friends over the course of 20 years all in just one season. From the hopes and dreams of 18-year-olds to the realities that irrevocably mark those lives two decades later, REUNION's stories are of love and loss, marriage and death, triumph and scandal. WILL (Will Estes, "U-571," "American Dreams") longs to leave his small town behind. Aided by an athletic scholarship, he will be the first in his family to go to college. CRAIG (Sean Faris, "Life As We Know It"), handsome and privileged, looks forward to the Ivy League with his girlfriend, SAMANTHA (Alexa Davalos, "The Chronicles of Riddick"), whose ambition is surpassed only by her looks and intelligence. The beautiful and sensual JENNA (Amanda Righetti, THE O.C.) dreams of becoming an actress; behind his cynicism, AARON (Dave Annable, "Little Black Book") dreams that his relationship with Jenna will go beyond friendship. CARLA (Chyler Leigh, "Not Another Teen Movie"), innocent and quirky, must choose between loyalty to her father and staying near her best friends. REUNION opens in 2005 at the funeral of one of the friends, whose death is being investigated by DETECTIVE MARJORINO (Mathew St. Patrick, "Six Feet Under"). Before the identity of the deceased is revealed, we're transported back to 1986, as the group is celebrating their high school graduation. The pilot episode follows all six through the summer of 1986, and we witness the formative events that alter their dreams and desires forever. Episode two finds the group a full year later, in 1987; episode three tells the story of a seminal event in 1988, and so on culminating in the season finale at the friends' 20th high school reunion. REUNION also will build toward answering two important questions raised in episode one: Which of the friends is dead? And how did that death occur? It doesn't sound terribly compelling/original from that, but I think I'll watch anyway. Will Estes!

Yes. I'm not sure if it will be better than it sounds. It's hard to find reviews of things, and then if you do they are all spoilery...

Anyway, I looked in the TWoP thread and it has average reviews. I also found a promo/ad picture thing, which actually makes it look more appealing to me: See how they age

Yeah, see! It's very "yeah, right, like they can pull it off" but they do! I don't know if it's more effective on screen, but the pictures could just be ultra photoshopped. Stupid Fox, making me feel conflicted!

Okay, I just watched the pilot. Non-spoilery review follows, for anyone interested: I think I liked it. I'll watch it again, I think, because it does keep you interested. It might get a bit old though, I don't know. The writing wasn't great. It's very predictable, lots of cliches, a bit cheesy. The acting is kind of...heavy handed? If that makes sense? The actors did a good job at expressing things without them needing to be said, except they would then be said anyway so it defeated the purpose. I think they're just trying to make it appeal to the lowest common denominator though. That kind of makes it sound bad, and unlikeable, but I didn't find it to be horribly unrealistic [e.g. Cra.P.] or very poorly acted [same example ]. The storylines seemed to be things that could actually happen to a group of friends. The episode didn't move through the whole year, but did kind of sum up what happens so it does feel complete. The whole thing is flashback style, but there's nothing stylistically to distinguish it as such, but it is very obvious so I won't complain about that. I'm because I know Will Estes can act but he just didn't seem to do it well in this episode. I suppose I'd be willing to give the show more of a chance for him anyway.

Just watched. Ugh – the acting. No offence guys but Will Estes? Suuuucks. So do the rest of them. I feel like I’m watching a bad B movie. I really don’t think I’ll watch anymore of this. Although it does have Keith from SFU in it and he is supah fine. It depends how much he’s in it I suppose… What I’m most upset about? The actor who plays Carla’s Dad played the Dad in My So-Called Life and he used to be soooo sexy. Now he’s just old and fat. I have a crush on Aaron.

Will can act! All the TWoPers agree that it's just the bad material. [They also agree that he and Wentworth Miller need to be on the same show. them! ] I get Aaron and Craig mixed up. Because I just do. But it's all about Will!

He really can't. But yeah, I'm sure the material factors into it. He's supposed to be hot? Now that I don't get. The other 2 guys are much better looking IMO even if neither of them can act for shit. I find Will to be really unattractive. I liked Carla until the 'present day' stuff where she [for some reason] has turned into a massive bitch. And I think Aaron is cute but personality wise he really pisses me off. He reminds me of a guy who was in love with me all through HS. Pa-the-tic. Craig is an asshole and Sam and Jenna annoy me. Will is an idiot. I really don't care about any of these characters. If Sam's baby survives I'm almost positive she/he will have something to do with the murder. I'm so only watching this for Sexy!Keith!

Ok, you must have read more than me. I did see the poor man's Seth Cohen bit though which is probably true. God, who would want to duplicate SC? *vomits* I still think that guy is hot though. The more I think about this show the more I hate it. I'll probably just watch up til episode 5... Will Estes? Meh.

It's sort of like a lowest common denominator version of VM. It has the mystery/suspense part, but just not the rest of the parts that are important in a good show. I can see it appealing to the Cra.P audience - I read that it retained 98% of the audience, which is like insane. I didn't find it completely unwatchable, but then I have seen 18 years of Neighbours/H&A and so I can tolerate melodrama. I can't wait for the rest of the American Dreams seasons to be on DVD. And for me to get the first one. [It's heaps expensive though - like $100?] Then it'll be one big Will Estes fest and no one can stop me.
