Middy's round up coming your way.
I have a lot to say, so please bear with me, if you can.
It'd be a bit more fun if they stopped revealing the guest stars in the previouslies. Of course, the new viewers would get confused, but then...who watches season 2 without seeing season 1?
And transition into great weirdness!
I was a bit confused by the dream sequence at first, because it looks so wow and was so wow and, well, wow!
But then we saw the students and the classic 'I
Dick' shirt and it all began to be humorous.
Nothing like a quick dream flash to get the viewers ready!
And the counsellor already!
Sleeping in class is natural to Veronica though. She's been doing it since the pilot.
The JLH reference was boring but it got the point across. [These are the sad jokes]
I really liked the photo handing run through of the kids that died. Good way to show the audience. Good way to recap.
And the fish[es]! Busquarium! I LOVE it!
It just looks so pretty and surreal.
Doesn't
everyone want a baby on board shirt?
Lucky = soldier + churchoholic + creeeeeepy! Poor Meg, no one wants to be set up with
a janitor [well, maybe
the Janitor
]. Bitchy Meg strikes back!
The dreams starting a few days ago...okay. I get it.
I suppose in the same way that the rape wasn't an issue until near the end of the season, I can forgive this.
Flashbacks!
An audio chip of
dead students laughing? No! That's really wrong.
I love the second phone message development. I didn't hear it properly at first, so it wasn't as shocking and didn't make as much sense, but I understood it the second time. Oh, Dick.
I didn't think the Paris joke was
that funny. A little bit obligatory?
Veronica sneaking on the bus would have been cool to see. I guess they wrecked that set already.
I like the drawing thing though. For a fake out. Everyone's always reading too much into graffiti.
And the 'individual coffins' thing is a bit weird. No one says that, writers?!
First LoVe scene of the episode is right after the credits! They don't waste time.
Logan being up all night thinking about himself is so in character.
Yet another flashback! Yay! Except...gratuitous LoVeing! I'm glad Veronica wanted a point.
It seems to me like Dick, Lucky and Logan were involved in some PCH/09er retaliation game. Some people seem to think they were planning the pool burning, but this seems before that. It'd make sense if Veronica broke up with Logan over a summer of the dangerous pranks, rather than just the one.
Logan likes every second one of them bossy and ballsy, so I don't know why he had such a problem with Veronica being the man.
And there's the man of the hour! MR WU!
The egg drop thing sounds like a really silly assignment, but...fun! Science fun! Oh how I love it.
Potsticker
Dick OWNS this scene.
"So bad it's good"
"I don't know how I'm gonna quit you" + nose finger =
Followed directly by "it's not me, it's Wu"
This show, it is comedy GOLD!
Logan and Wallace! Yay! Finally! Yay!
And then we move on to the finger wiggling!
I KNOW WHO YOU DID LAST SUMMER has to be the next summer blockbuster! I just know it.
And here I am conflicted again, because Dick is such a dirty, disgusting jerk, but he's a
funny one.
I'd definitely think that someone of Dick's financial position would be more wary of random chicks saying they're on the pill. Every girl loves a rich guy! And if they're poor [white trash...] you'd think their motivations might be...questionable.
Oh, and that's where this episode starts to get really interesting and speculatory [?] - the 'gay kid'. He wins the tickets, throws them out. Why was he there? Why did he throw them out? And so on. Was the bomb there? Is that how Woody [or whoever] knew the bus would crash? So many questions! I like it.
I love the irony of Dick calling something a no brainer too.
Something that I truly love about VM is that it [usually] gives you the clues without saying "look here! This goes with this!".
We see Keith and we, like Veronica, automatically think that he's been seeing Miss James. And it makes the reveal of the MotW much more interesting. I know that's part of what they were going for, having everyone think what Veronica did, but I can't help but admire that they don't overemphasise things unnecessarily.
Dick = bastard child of satan?
I'd buy it.
PWT Bettina wanting Dick to knock her up is precisely the rich guy warning light thing I mentioned earlier.
And I really liked Veronica's flowery jackets this episode.
The dream t-shirts are very cool. Love them all! Queer Eye for the Dead Guy!
I really like Wallace and Logan talk time.
They could do it more often. Nice, short, funny scenes.
Again with the Keith dating fake out. Well played, show.
I would have liked to see a bit more nervousness from Veronica when opening the Stanford letter, but I'll live. Wonder how she's going to lose her place and get stuck at Hearst?
I really feel for Veronica, having to sit there and see the rich kids buy their grades and she can't do anything about it.
At least Miss Sabrina
had to study hard.
The "Veronica tells counsellor" method of storytelling didn't bother me. I found it interesting enough. It's nice to see an old character, and it's nice to hear Veronica herself, onscreen instead of voiced over, talking about her problems and whatnot.
I'm very surprised that no one had called Veronica PWT to her face too! Maybe the 09ers didn't hear about that particular insult?
Keith's dating thing had me confused for a while.
At first I thought it must have been speed dating or something. It wasn't until the office manager thing that I got it. Which was the point, I'm sure.
The first two women were rather scary!
I want balloons!
As annoying as Dick is, Angie is way bitchtastic. She told him she didn't want him to help with the project and...so mean!
"Cologne, new suit, hair...I should probably write this stuff down"
Espresso!Wallace!
Logan!sympathy!Wallace! I don't know, I mean, Wallace shouldn't hate him, but it doesn't mean he needs to join in on the pity party, does it?
Finger in the food is classic WT, but I, as well as everyone else, am stuck wondering what it is that this payout was actually covering up...if anything. Iiiiinteresting.
I really do love break and enter Veronica.
Trapped in the closet!
I really like the Keith + Clemmons = MotW reveal. I like that the mystery was always present and hinted at. I like that we saw it through Veronica hiding rather than the usual straight out explanation.
The actual MotW doesn't surprise me at all. Of course kids are going to want to cheat their way out of doing tests! A lot like people cheating the government out of money.
It'd be quite the lucrative opportunity for professionals.
And here it is! The dating reveal! They don't spell it out, they don't get a voice over to tell the audience, they just let it sink it. Intelligent shows do that. I like it.
More Mr Wu! Wu hoo!
It makes me sad that we had to think Mr Wu was Peter's special friend though.
I can see this scene seeming very unrealistic to some people, the way Veronica is talking to Mr Wu and being not so subtle, being so upfront? I don't think it's that weird though. And it was a good scene.
"Veronica, I think when you get out in the world a little more you'll discover that not all well-dressed, articulate, detail-oriented men are gay, many of them are just Asian"
has to be the line of the night. Except for the Dick ones. Mr Wu! I love you!
But Veronica is still too nosy for her own good.
Disco!Bus! I love it! Mr Wuuuuuuu!
I don't think Mr Wu is gay!
The ladies love him!
I can't even begin to explain how awesome the "back of my hand...." thing is! Just, wow.
Asking why Peter was even on the bus works for me.
I also can't explain how much I love these dream sequences! Whether it's ghosts whispering to her, or her subconscious directing the investigation, it's just great. Unlike the Lilly thing, where she had...visions...the dreams add something. Since it's not personal enough for her they make her, and the audience, care just that little bit extra, that little bit that is really necessary at this point in the season. I was already getting into the Felix thing, but after I Am God I'm totally down with the bus crash too! Bring it on!
Those lights are so cool though. The fish, the lights, so pretty!
Crazy!Beaver! Oh Cassidy, what is wrong with you?
Cervando cheating the Fitzpatricks? Did he not see what happened to Felix?
Adds some weight to them being involved in the crash, but it's a little too showy.
Those $200 jeans don't look very nice or well fitting either...no wonder Dick felt the need to add decorative bleach splotches!
Settling the score with Cassidy was definitely a foreshadowy thing. Abuse? Neglect? Who knows, but whatever it is it's gonna be important.
Loving the short sleeved hoodie jacket with the green floral shirt thing. Want...take...have!
It's very cute. KB is very cute. I am very jealous.
And here we have the beautiful conclusion to the small MotW! I liked that it was small, relevant and was sort of teased out rather than being bulky, boring exposition. Since it was a minor thing we didn't need the usual [often boring] red herrings. I just really liked the way it worked. And anything that gives us more Keith [and more of our favourite principal!] is good in my mind.
I'd watch a show of Keith kissing toads. If anyone cares.
Egg drop! Wu hoo!
Angie using a congratulatory balloon really cracked me up.
Logan/JD claps like such a challenged person.
I love those balls on the bottom of the Lallace [Wogan?] egg protector too.
If only they were functional.
Crime and Punishment exam? Eep! I'm glad we never had to read a book that long. [Knowing the people I went to school with they probably wouldn't even have found the book before the exam though]
There was a lot of scandal [?] about Veronica making a nasty comment about Hannah. And I was all "whaaaaat?". I don't see "how has Hannah been able to keep away?" as
that bad. Everyone knows Veronica has the potential to give as good as she gets. And again, why does Logan even like Hannah? Why is he all flirty [his version of flirty...] with Veronica again if he's that heartbroken? Why why why? I mean, stop boo hooing and get over her Logan! He needs some of his own medicine.
I thought the actress who played Angie did pretty well with the role. It was a nice part...a break from Madison [she must be
busy with Lamb, damn her!], but the same idea. Loved her face when the test paper was put on her desk! Serves her right. Bitchface!
I love the look on the teacher's face more though.
I also love [!] the light ball thing that one of the Wu students is playing with!
This scene is a bit odd, a bit confusing. It's hard to know when the reality stops and the dream begins! It was obviously the whole lot though.
I
love love love the blackboard transition.
There is just something about the way she's writing on the bus window that is a beautiful kind of eerie.
Cervando's information was nice. Just the right amount of exposition for that point in time. Stating the obvious, a little, but it was nice for it to be said again. The way that Veronica interprets the information is interesting too, thinking that it's Weevil. The way Cervando doesn't quite make sense, and chimes in with the title, I Am God, is so wonderfully creepy.
And then the transition to the classroom! It just works.
The artwork just being an album cover is so funny. I kinda love that the writers went there. It's against what most shows would do, as we've come to expect on VM. But I am a bit sad...it would have been cool. Got to keep the mystery alive I guess!
And here it is...yet another complication to add to our theorising.
I'm a bit confused that we're still going back and forth between the rich kids and the poor kids being the target. Or there being a specific student [/teacher] target or it just being a random act. It's very confusing. Typical!
Big Dick's insurance on the kids...did Kendall plan it to get some more money? It seems odd that Big Dick would do it for the money, what with being busy with his real estate scam.
And now we have Marcos, screwing with dream!Veronica's head. With the magic school bus flying through the air.
And I don't understand the picture that he drew. Is that going to be in the test?
The ringing phone thing is just, again, all kinds of creepy. Is the bomb in the bag theory or fact?
So...overall. Wow.
WOW!It's really all that can be said, isn't it?
One of the best episodes of anything, that I've ever seen, right there.
The flashbacks on VM have always been cool, but the dream scenes were just something else. Those effects were surreal. The colours, the sets, the lines...everything. I can't stop thinking about it. I can't stop loving it.
This episode was funny. Very funny. There wasn't as much drama/tension as there is usually, but I think a lot of it was in the dreams. But it was presented in such a different way. It's really unlike any of the other episodes. It comes closest to A Trip To The Dentist, and I'm wondering if it wasn't a coincidence that the same writer was part of this ep.
Apart from the script and the directing being spot on, all the acting was too. Everyone did great. I have no complaints. Not that the audience is the boss of the scene, but if I notice something that I don't like it makes it hard. And there was little to nothing that I didn't like.
Season two is back and it's moving. It's great. I am still very disappointed with the start of the season, even though I enjoyed a lot of it at the time, but...this gives me hope. Those in charge have seen what they've done wrong and learned from it. They've improved it. They're keeping the audience interested now. I can't forget all the problems that I've had with other parts of the show, but all I know is that I'm just really back in now. I can't wait to see what's coming at us next.
Long live VM!
